good information, Jen.

Now, I do feel the power of incorporate protein in each meal. It has proved to help me to lose weight. I am still in learning mode. Not easy to get rid of the old eating habit.

A lot of science to lose fat and gain muscle!

Is it really true you can't gain muscle and loose fat at the same time? I hadn't heard that one before. Interesting ...

You're right alexa, it isn't impossible! Someone else in the comments on that blog also made the remark. The part in the post has been updated as well.

To clarify: it isn't impossible, but it's more difficult.

It's indeed a good idea to take what you like and leave the rest. It's not a 16 rules break-or-fail program!

Nope that is not true. Over the past 3 months, I've gained 10 lbs of muscle and lost 20 lbs of fat. That statement flagged my attention too.

Thanks for the article Jenn!

Starchy carbohydrates also include potatoes and corn. Neither of those would I consider "good" carbohydrates. Starch is usually the enemy in terms of blood sugar control. Since when was oatmeal considered a starch anyway? If I boil oatmeal I don't get a starchy foam. Does anyone else?

And the obvious fact that it's quite easy to gain muscle and lose fat, when your diet and exercise is correct. She did put a note on that blurb.

Overall though, a nice simple overview!

That's a big mistake indeed... I deleted the phrase. Thanks for sharing that Angie!

I gained 19lbs of muscle and lost 6lbs of fat. Gota eat right, and workout right but its possible. Too many people over eat and eat junk when trying to gain muscle weight and thus gain both fat and muscle.

I'd rather gain a little slower than to put an extra 1lb or more of fat on a week to make sure i'm gaining muscle. In the end IMHO you look/feel better and when you are done trying to put it on, you then don't have to try as hard to take it off
