So because I live in the desert I'm no longer able to run outside in the 90+ degree weather, so I run in place. My question is, as silly as it sounds is could this cause brain damnage?

Are you being serious? Why would running in place have more impact than regular running? If running in place causes brain damage, wouldn't regular running too?

haha, I know it's totally silly, but my dad told me that long term jogging of the brain could potentally cause damnage.

I did try to ask the mighty google. It finally did something I thought would never happen....it was unable to give me an answer!

I'm still recovering from the heartbreak.

you guys do know about cha cha, right? you text message any question to 242-242, and they respond with an answer. it's free now, for beta testing of a human-guided search engine.

it beats google, and passes the time. random trivia, riddles, creepy relationship questions, all are fair game.

Humanity has been on the losing side of every battle ever since Bush got in office and reality television took off.

Wait, what was this thread about again?

I'll be happy if humanity simply continues. Anything else, wit for example, is just icing on the proverbial cake.

Ah right, I forgot that the internet forum was the place for a timely reply. For shame, I did not realize this paragon of comedy immediately.

I'll make sure to check back regularly for barbs from stand up bean. I wouldn't want my all important e-rep to falter. I hope the wit of my reply is not sullied by its failure to be posted at 02:12 AM EST, right after yours.

Well running in place did me in this morning....I started to get a very bad cramp in my lower belly which twenty minutes later lead to be being ashen color laying of the floor between my parents bedroom and bathroom as I had collapsed onto the floor. The paramedics were called and my blood pressure had dropped to something like 80 over 86, very low, and low for myself in general as I'm usually in the 120's. A healthy range.

Aparently something is wrong with me and the exercise is making it worse. I'm not supposed to run or do anything that might provoke a reaction like this till I get to my doctor something this week.

See...running in place can be bad. Looks like I have my answer.

Thank you Cindy! That's so nice of you.

Angie- No, actually we believe I have endometriosis or PCOS (which my mother has and can be genetic) which can be aggravated by working out which would explain a lot of other things that have been happening to me for a while.

I'm still pretty freaked out from what happened yesterday and not to mention tried and feeling like I've been beaten up so I think I'm just going to do light weight lifting and walking coupled with focusing more on what I'm eating and how many calories to help me lose the weight.

Shannon, so sorry to hear that you collapsed! I hope you feel better really soon. If the doctors say rest, then make sure you do. You'll be glad in the end even if it is frustrating now. Feel better!!!

My friend has PCOS, and it can definitely affect your blood sugar, and cause elevated insulin levels which can contribute to obesity. Extremely low blood sugar can even cause seizures. My friend has to be very careful when working out; she had a crash similar to yours at work once after weight lifting at lunch. You should educate yourself on how to better control or reduce your insulin response, which will in turn hopefully make working out a much better, and safer!, experience.

Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, that's awful. As a girl who's watched her mother suffer with it and is now going through something like it I can relate on both a physical, mental, and emotional level. I truely do understand it though I'm always willing to learn more. As for it affecting blood sugar well that's not something it's known for. Though you could create a family tree of like symptoms for it, blood sugar levels will always be effected by what you eat, so will insulin levels. But PCOS won't affect blood sugar levels.

Thanks again for the well wishes and I hope you friend is better!
I always find it interesting how many different turns a topic can take, changing from this to that. haha.
