There was an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal this past weekend. No, not about stock or bonds, but about balance exercises and weight training â€" and their popularity. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120311084302572325 .html?mod=weekend_leisure_sports_hs_coll_left

The article says they are in “fashion” and I agree. At PhysicalFitnet, of the 800 exercise video clips, 250 of them challenge balance and stability. So, if you want to be cutting-edge at the gym, and, of course, get fit - challenge your balance. Check out some video demonstrations that can help you do that http://www.physicalfitnet.com/exercise_video_brows e_by/training_type-balance_and_stability.aspx

I am hard-line proponent of core stability stuff like step-ups, the plank, unsupported rows, etc. I think one of the best chest exercises I ever learned was the medicine ball pushup, those things are killer.

The following is a link to help people with AC joint issues in their shoulder, in it they teach a bunch of different push up variations:

The key here is to remember that core training should be an element of your routine, not a focus (provided you ultimate goal is to be a mountain of meat.

Core stability exercises will never depose the undeniable benefit of the big three: squat, deadlift, press.

I guess rows too.
