Success is not a race, be patient. Success leads to success. Success is always a work in progress. Success doesn't come to you--you go to it. Success is a journey, not a destination. Focus on the process. Some people dream about success... while others wake up and work hard at it. Success is achieved and maintained by those who try-and keep trying. Everyday is a good day to SUCCEED! If at first you don't succeed-try, try again

This is my fifth week of exercising (2nd week of weights) and having a lower calorie intake....in this time, I have now lost a total of 13.2lbs YAY.. I have noticed clothes feeling loser especially around the waist and above the butt/hips area!
But when do you (or others) reallllyyyy start to see noticeable physical results? ie; face getting thinner etc..how many lbs loss would really start to show? I am now 256lbs..woooo out of the 260's now!! Yippeeeee!!!!

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.

My belt is more than 2 notches tighter since Christmas... I might have to get a new belt soon! Other than that, I think I look in the mirror too often to notice any differences myself, heh. Clothes are feeling a little looser too.

Keeping a photo-journal of your weight loss trek is a great way to really see the changes in the face.

I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.
I decided at the first of the year that I was going to lose weight. I started by changing my eating habits and started walking.
I did so for about a month and then added some weight lifting and started to run a little bit.
I have so far lost 29 lbs in just over 3 months and would like to lose just over another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
I have started running quite a bit more and am training to run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th (10k)
I need all the encouragement I can get because to do this I am getting up every morning during the week at 4:30 to go running. With a wife and kids this is really the only time that I can consistently do what I need to do.
I am driven, but at times get a bit discouraged because I don't have anybody to work out with or run with.
All in All, I know I can do it, I just have to remember that when I don't do so well, it is in the past and what matters is going forward.

Quoting: TEAMCHINA I think I look in the mirror too often to notice any differences myself
It has been said many times here on traineo, but through your eyes you are not going to see yourself as you actually are for a long time. As I have heard it ask and how I have asked.... when do I see myself for the actual weight I have lost?
I have lost 83 lbs so far in the past year, and I don't see myself where I was when I started, but I also don't see myself where I am today. I have to look at actual pictures to detach the fact that it is me. I also notice that if I catch a reflection of myself without looking into a mirror (without knowing it is me at first) that I then see how skinny I am. It is very strange, but I guess is why there are so many problems with eating disorders where people starve themselves into skin and bones but don't see it..... I fully understand now how that can happen.
Rely more on how you feel, the scale, your BF, your measurements, and how your clothes feel - and, as Minu says, take some pictures!!
Good luck with your continued success!

I measure myself weekly. The tape measure doesn't lie, hehe. I might think my jeans fit a bit better, but then I wash them and they're a bit snug again, hahaha, and it leaves me wondering. But the tape measure, on the other hand, gives me hard evidence that I am indeed shrinking.

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

This is important because we see ourselves everyday! We aren't as likely to notice a gradual change, and as Tim said it will be difficult to see ourselves as we actually are when we've lost the weight. So take regular pictures, and use those to compare!

Oh definitely; I've been taking a photo log but I haven't spent much time looking through it yet. My thing is that right now I'm working out for fitness and health reasons first, appearance a distant second so as long as I'm FEELING better, I figure the LOOKING better will come naturally.
I definitely have more energy and feel more active than I have in years; no mirror or photos are going to show me that

i agree on what everyone above says but dont necessarily wait for comments from others b/c alot of people might not say anything to you for many reasons. i found that alot of people havent said a word to me about my weight loss and people on here told me why and ive asked others about this and they have told me why others might not comment on ones weight loss. here are some reasons they have come up with:
-they might not feel comfortable saying something in general
-they might not feel comfortable approaching women/men about body issues
-then it is saying that you needed to lose weight
-they might be jealous
-they may be struggling with their own weight
-they might not notice-maybe b/c you are wearing big clothes and you cant tell
-they dont know the "proper" way of saying it
