But weight lifting does not.

This explains why my BP and cholesterol stayed so bad, even after 6-7 years of lifting, 40+ lbs of muscle gain, and 10% body fat lost. Wish I had known this sooner!

Yes...you failed badly, Ara.

Is that really what Captain Planet's motto was? I thought it was, "The power is yours!" Or maybe it's "choice." I don't remember. Guess I fail too.

err, and yet the doctors still recommend weightlifting as part of a balanced fitness program aimed at overall health benefits, so what's the problem.

That seems like saying water won't build your muscles, but I still recommend it as part of your daily diet.

Don't worry Splint, I wouldn't consider giving up weight lifting! I'm curious about how the two activities might stress the heart differently, and what other factors might play a part - breathing, sustained vs. burst pressure, etc...
