Right now I'm trying to do 3 days of cardio and 2 days of weight training (ultimately trying to lose around 20 pounds).

So far pretty much all the weight training schedules I've seen around atleast 3 days (some as many as 5).

Should I swap my schedule and be doing 3 days of weight training and 2 of cardio? Again, my ultimate goal is to lose weight.

ultimately you should be doing whatever routine you're comfortable with.

check out this link

try doing the full body workout twice a week.

Thank you very much for this data Chris, I've been looking for a lifting guide to augment my cardio, and you provided a nice one.

That's an interesting site, thanks Chris!

@Josh - whenever I find myself lifting less than 3X/week I generally do a full body workout those 2X. It takes a little longer, but provides more potential variation and is a lot of fun. Circuit training works for this as well, and is a great option if you're just starting out.

Yes, I agree, if you are weight training 2x/week - you want to make those 2 full body workouts. Checkout this full body workout: http://www.physicalfitnet.com/workout_video/Basic_ Full_Body.aspx
