is damn fun. This might sound like I'm here to sell a product, but I'm not
I got nike+ shoes 2 days ago, and started running for the first time in years. It's very fun to try and beat personal records, it's a great motivation. I ran 11:36 @ 2km yesterday, and today I just HAD to beat it, it's like a video game. And I did beat it @ 11:23.1. And you can bet on it that I'll be trying to beat it again tomorrow. Just giving people a heads up on this. Running can be fun!

Bas, yes, it is very fun to run with Nike+. I use it to train my running also.
Nike+.com has a big community out there for various challenge.

But, I personnally do not like Nike shoes. It is a bit too narrow in the front for me. I wear Mizuro shoes with a shoe pouch to store the nike+ device.

Can you buy the device seperate?? There are several devices out there that can do the same thing through GPS a bit more expensive but worth the $$$$$$

The Nike+ has to work only with Apple IPOD Nano. It does not do heart rate monitoring, GPS,...like the Garmin or Sunntao does. Other than tracking your running data, the only thing it can do is to play music. One cool feature is that once you reach 500 miles, it plays a voice from Lance Armstrong to congrat you. It does not have other fancy features like those GPS ones, but, it is relatively cheaper. For beginner runners like me, it plays music when I run and keep track of the data. It is good enough for me already.

Since I cannot run, I use my Nike+ to take looooong walks and it really works. You wear the "chip" in your shoe, so you can't lose it or drop it.
When I got my Nike+, I tried to buy the most discreet ones, but appart from their look, they're really comfortable!!

Best wishes for the New Year to all of you!!

wow. that sounds preety awesome. ive been considering getting some of the nike plus shoes, as i already wear nike shox for running, and i love them. I thought it be nice to have something to tell me how far Im going. As for the ipod, I have that for my runs and I love listening to music. I might just have to go get me some nike plus shoes here soon...;)

tex

Be careful Bas with trying to beat your 'record' each time. I started down this road and 9 times out of 10 it leads to injury and then you have to stop running (and get depressed) and then start all over again ... I am slowly learning

Better off getting some 'base miles' in first. Keep the pace easy and work on going further and then work on the speed.

I am a slow poke newbie but I really enjoy the Nike+. Have you joined any of the challenges yet? They are very motivational.

Can you use nike+ with a bigger ipod (like a video)?
I don't think so. But I wanted to check.

Michelle: No, just iPod nano
Mike: Yeah I am building up quite slowly. After 6 years of sitting still and eating junkfood I am still able to run a 5k within 30 mins. With a trainingschedule (with a lot of rest days) I am trying to cut it down to 27:00 in 12 weeks.

I've always wanted this but I didn't want to buy the special shoes they sell with it. So does it really work just to tape it to your shoe? Do you attach it to the outside?

Sarah, you don't have to have Nike shoes to use Nike+. I do not like Nike shoes myself. It is too narrow for me. You can purchase shoe pouch to hold the Nike+. They are about ~$8 and available in many shops that are specific for running gear. You can also find some in

Hey, just wanted to keep you posted on progress. My first 2 mile run went in 21:06 @ 10:31 min/mile. My last 4 mile run went in 37:52 @ 9:28 min/mile.
I really like my progress. I have been using one of the training schedules at the nike website. I hope to run my first 5k (in 10 weeks from now) under 26 minutes. I love running.

hey tex, if you have the nike shox you shouldn't need the other shoes. Try taking the sole out of your left shoe... there should be a removable disc there and thats where you put the nike + chip. It is one of the most awesome tools I have had in a long time and I LOVE running in my nike shox! They have helped with my back pain and shin splints!
