Hi All! I'm AJ and I'm from Sydney, Australia. Like many of you, I'm on the positive journey to weight loss, and have just joined Traineo after my husband discovered it and joined himself. I am trying to lose 34kg (76lbs) and since joining two days ago I have lost 1.2kg (2.6lbs)! Being overweight is quite new to me, because I always maintained this reasonably light weight - around 58kg (127.9lbs) without having to worry about what I ate or how much exercise I did. In fact, I did hardly any exercise and ate a lot of rubbish! Admittedly though, that was up until the age of 22 - then I got married! Then we went to New Zealand for a honeymoon and then the weight just packed on! Five years and 31kg (68.3lbs) later, I joined Traineo. I'm doing a lot of exercise (2 hrs per day) which I enjoy, and I'm also eating only healthy foods. When I'm not busy eating right and exercising, I'm busy running my creative consultancy (I'm a Copywriter, Journalist, PR and Marketing Consultant). Life is good and I'm hoping to lose the weight over about 5 months. I look forward to getting to know as many people as possible on Traineo!

Hi Guys,
I find that I get very sore soles of my feet after exercising for a long period of time. I find it is what will make me end a workout (usually after about an hour the pain will really kick in). Does anybody else get this, and how do you cope with it?
I'm just going to break my workout session into two. Ideally I want to do two one-hour sessions.
Cheers,
AJ

My guess is you might need better shoes with support. Also what are you doing for a 2 hour period? Have you been doing this much exercise for a long period of time or did you just start? If you just started this routine I would say to take it slow. I ended up hurting myself and had to take almost 2 weeks off because I pushed my self running way too much and didn't start off slow. Check the shoes and go from there

Hey David,
I'm doing air walker mainly and have no problems with it at all. I don't have any real pain at all and the endurance isn't a problem. My shoes are good too. I think it's just that I'm overweight and it might be too much pressure on my feet.
If I do two sessions of one hour (which is easy), instead of just one big two hour session, I'm fine.
Cheers,
AJ

I started out at about 315 pounds I have lost about 75 pounds to date. I am more than half way to my goal weight but I want to keep working hard to achieve it. I would like to be 175, but I did a Body Composition Analysis at the gym and it said that an ideal weight for me would be 205 with my body makeup. I was surprised. So I am actually going to alter my goal weight a little and then reevaluate it again when I get to my new goal. I went a little lower than 205 because I want to be under 200 so I picked 195. That's my new goal. Once I make it there I will reevaluate where I want to be. I just wasn't made to be a stick, which is OK, I just want to be healthy. My weight loss journey has worked on a positive circle, the more I lose the better I feel, the more I want to work out and so on. It has been such a life altering experience for me and I can't wait to live this lifestyle for the rest of my days.

AJ,
It's nice to know someone else has the same problem. Having the right shoes helps a little but it doesn't solve the problem. I get the same thing from the Elliptical Trainer. I think it's just the friction, from all of my weight shifting side to side. But if you figure out a solution I'd love to hear it!!
Keep up the workout!!

Aj,
Do your feet hurt when you first wake up in the morning and get out of bed? Or is it just during/after the long workout?

My ultimate goal is to fit into size 4 jeans. Right now I'm a 10-12. Drop me a note - would love the encouragement!

I was having this problem (also with non/low impact activity on my elliptical machine), and went and bought new insoles for my trainers. It was just a matter of taking out the current insoles out and substituting the new ones. Feels like completely new shoes, but with 1/5 the cost. My foot problem cleared up nearly overnight!

Another thing you can try is get some sandals, which are fairly loose, and wear them around the house/while gardening/go for walks in them - you'll strengthen your arches fast though continually gripping with your toes.

Spinning give me excruciating pains the soles of my feet. You could try alternating the air walker with another form of cardio that is more easy on the feet.
