How can I get an "All over" workout without going to the gym? I'm curious about what methods other people use.

Well there are many different methods. Can you get to a track or do a road run? If so then you can do interval training. Say you are on the track, do a couple of laps to warm up then get started. First sprint 100 yards as hard as you can go, then drop and do 15 push-ups and 15 crunches, get up and do an easy jog for half a lap, then drop and do 20 and 20. Next jump up and sprint a half a lap as hard as you can go. Drop and do 25 and 25. Next repeat all of the above. You can do this workout in less than 30 minutes, it is VERY intense, and you don't need a gym (or a track either really). Hope this helps!

I used to be 266 freakin' pounds! Been 180 for 2 years now. Keeping it off by exercise and eating smart.

When you say "not going to the gym" does that mean without *any* sort of equiptment? Do you have a home gym? Weights? That would help with recomendations...

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

I don't go to the gym much myself, but I've got an eliptical at home. It's not a complete body workout, but it does a pretty good job. I'll usually add in some crunches and pushups after 30-45 minutes on the eliptical - by then I'm usually feeling pretty good.

I would love to look hot in a bikini some time before I turn 30 (that's in 7 months!) Somebody help me!

If you've got cable, do workouts "on demand". That's how I start my day. The workouts aren't all great though. It takes a little while before you can recognize ones that will do for you what you want. For me, I like to do a 20-25 minute cardio video such as Cardio Kick-Boxing and follow it up with another 20 minute video of pilates.
Good luck!

Generally I eat quite well during the day its at night where I consume the candy and what not that keeps me from losing weight properly.

OK Liz Ryan you are kidding right? Based on the picture next to your post I will assume that you already look good in a bikini and you just want to look better. And by the way I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night so I am pretty well versed on some outstanding fat burning excersises.

With a family history of obesity, staying fit and losing weight for me are more than nice-to-haves: They're essentials.

Bry,
You can also get a pretty darn good muscle and conditioning workout using a simple medicine ball (see your local sporting goods store) as an aid when squating, lunging, and throwing. It's primarily anaerobic, not aerobic exercise, though.

I'm supporting my wonderful man as he embarks on his journey of becoming physically fit. I love fitness and try to engage in vigorous exercise every single day. It makes you feel even more amazing than you end up looking! I would love to motivate others who are looking for a little push!

There are about a million and one exercises you can do with a yoga ball. You can work legs and abs especially well with it and if you add light dumbells or bands to the mix for upper body, it's like a complete gym. It also really helps target areas that are specifically difficult for us ladies. I couple these exercises with about an hour of cardio (running or a kickboxing video). Laps on stairs are great too.
Regarding the ball, there are a lot of books devoted to creative exercises on Amazon...I'd get the one with the best reader reviews. You'll look like an idiot and probably fall off the first few exercises you try, but you're at home, so no one will see anyway!
And for the record, not only did I reach my target weight with this "home gym," but I've gotten really toned (12% body fat!).
