After moving away from the grocery store that carried my favorite brand, I've gotten into making it at home in my mini food processor. It's too easy and good to dip veggies into. Here's the recipe I've played around with, and I'm curious what combos other people use.

1 can (19oz) of washed chickpeas (progresso sized can)
less than 1/4 cup tahini
3 tbsp lemon juice
~1 tbsp water
1-2 cloves fresh garlic, sliced
tsp sea salt
black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp ground cumin
sprinkle with paprika or old bay before dipping

puree everything, then puree the peas in. chill before tasting because it really makes a difference after it sets.

what's yours?

My regular recipe:

1 can chickpeas
1 can black beans (both 15 oz)
1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes (more to taste)
2-4 cloves garlic, or to taste
lemon juice to taste
1-2 tblsp olive oil
3-4 tbsp tahini

I tend to add other ingredients, and the measurements are sketchy, but this is my basic recipe.

Here's what I normally make:

1 cup cooked or canned garbanzo beans
1 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/3 cup bean liquid (from the can) or water
1 tsp horseradish

Blend all ingredients in a blender until creamy smooth.

OR

1 cup canned (unsalted) chickpeas
3 tbsp unhulled raw sesame seeds
2 tbsp lemon
½ red onion, chopped
2 tbsp tomato paste
pinch of chili powder to taste

Blend ingredients in blender or food processor until creamy. If necessary, add a small amount of water to assist in blending.
