Hi all, I just made a soup that turned out pretty nice--thought I'd share with the slurpers here. It's real light on the calories, as I did it for a "diet day", so please do add some nice first press olive oil if you're keen.
INGREDIENTS:
Flat Italian Parlsey
Raw Spinach
Garlic
Onions
Cherry Tomatoes
1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
Lentils
1 teaspoon malt vinegar
1 teaspoon of powdered chicken bouillon
Salt 'n pepper to taste
(Tabasco sauce optional, but I found a few drops were yummy in there.)
Into a blender I plopped: 4 plump cloves of garlic, 3 small (egg-sized) onions, a third of a bunch of flat parsley, a few cups of spinach, a little bottled water and whizzed it into a beautiful green velvety liquid.
Pour in pot and heat to med-high, then add the drained and rinsed lentils, (I used 500 grams net weight), mustard, vinegar, halved cherry tomatoes, (I used 8, but go nuts if you like), and the bouillon, Tabasco if you like it, and salt and pepper to taste, let simmer for an hour or so.
It passed the taster-test, and I'm sure it'll be even better tomorrow when I plan to eat it.
Bon Ap,
Minu

Hi! I'm a 44 year-old slightly overweight male looking to loose 30lbs by the end of year. For me, weight loss is just one part of an overall plan for living a healthier lifestyle (as healthy a lifestyle as possible!) In addition to diet and exercise, other elements of my healthy way of life include good sleep, proper hydration, kicking the (smoking) habit, meditation, and disease management (I have rheumatoid arthritis).
I signed up at Traineo because maintaining routines has always been difficult for me. 3 years ago however, after many tries, I was finally able to maintain an exercise routine for a period of 6 months with outstanding results. I then stopped working out so I'd have more time for other things and 3 months later the RA got worse. Since then I've been unable to motivate myself back into the gym.
Well, my motivation is back, due in part to Traineo. I think having a few motivators will be a great help. Also, posting my efforts on the Internet, for the whole world to see, may help to keep me on my toes. I'm not entirely sure about that yet so I may change my profile so only Traineo members can see it.
I'm strong willed, but most of all I crave the results I achieved 3 years ago. So I'm determined, and thus far my spirits remain high. I sure am glad you stopped to read about me and great luck with your own efforts! Cheers!

Say, that looks incredibly healthy! Sounds like you're using pre-cooked lentils?? And, so I don't have to buy (yes, I am going to make this) an entire bottle of malt vinegar that'll never get used for anything else, what do you think a good substitute would be? Cheers!

Thanks, guys,
As for the vinegar, I'm sure that with such a small amount, near any kind would do--whatever you may have handy, or omit it and up the Tabasco, if you're a spicer. And yes, canned lentils, I can never be bothered with the dry ones, I'm into speed in the kitchen...
Glad you like the photo, info, merci. EDIT: I find that even if I come across a recipe that seems inviting, if there's no pic, I almost never give it a go, so yes, "a thousand words", or at least one good bite, mmm?
