i Slappy
I'm a slappy geek (IT Systems Analyst at work, Gadget lover at play) and ready to do something to change my state of slappiness...time to de-slappify myself.
Unfortunately, my love for all things tech is, by it's nature, a very sedentary lifestyle which has lead me down the path of being slappy (overweight/obese, in case you were curious). After having three different doctors strongly urge me to lose weight and a blood pressure reading of 190/110...this new path became an absolute must.
I've joined the Weight Watcher ranks and found it to be a great gateway to my 'lifestyle change'. It has been a tremendous help to reducing my calories, while helping get in my daily intake of fruits, vegetables, calcium, water, omega-3's, etc...
As for fitness, I have been using my eliptical trainer at home because running outdoors was a little harsh on my knees. This has helped to ease my hand off the TiVo remote and onto the home exercise equipment. I now watch digitally recorded shows while huffing and puffing. =P
I look forward to meeting new and interesting people on here and finding new 'thinspirations' and motivators.

I have a horrible immune system.
I'm one heck of a swimmer, but I've never been able to run a mile.
I'm basically a vegetarian, and have been for the better part of a year. I just can't resist sushi :9
My current goal is to get back into shape for summer so lifeguarding isn't too brutal (in a physical expenditure sense and a self esteem sense) and so I can look and feel great at for my senior roadtrip!
Also, in a more long-term sense, I hope to calm my paranoia about becoming another typical, obese American.

a GIANT bowl of mixed greens (romaine, spinach, iceburg)
+ 1 can tuna in water
+ 1 tbsp light mayo (serves as both "glue" for the tuna and as a salad dressing - and at only 45 cals!)
+ 1 tsp spicy mustard
+ lots of diced up veggies - tomato, celery, onion
mix it all up - and you have a delicious and very healthy dinner!
yum!

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Just finished my "green banana power blended salad"
• 2-3 ounces washed baby spinach
• 3-4 ounces washed romaine lettuce
• 1 banana
• ½ avocado
• 5 medjool dates
• 1 tbsp black fig vinegar (optional)
Blend well into a smooth pudding-like consistency in the food processor, the Vita-Mix, or a powerful blender by shoving the lettuce down into the blades with a cucumber or carrot used as a plunging tool.
As an aside: blending raw greens until smooth greatly increases the absorption of nutrients from our digestive tract, delivering a powerful nutrient punch.
p.s. it's VERY green!!! hahaha

My appetite tends to kick in gear between 1130 and 8 (I need to fix this!)

When I started here last year, I wasn't as committed as I should be. Now through the diet tracking at The Daily Plate, I'm back on track. I'd like to lose 37 pounds by my graduation on June 14th.
My ultimate goal is 145, but I can't wait to make it to 175. I haven't been that weight since high school. My goal here reflects my 190, June 14th goal.
As of March 4th, I'm down 10.5 pounds! 26.5 to go.

I was originally trying only to lose weight and get down below 140lbs, but my new goal is to get to 140lbs in the long term while focusing on building muscle and just generally toning by build in the short term. I am a computer science and economics student and I'm here to easily track my calories burned to better control my meals, especially my protein intake.
|
# Posted: 4 Mar 2008 21:43
I had 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese, 1 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal and 3 or 4 strawberries for breakfast.
I had half a wheat bagel, a pouch of Starkist tuna, 4 strawberries and a plum for lunch.
In just that I already have about 50 grams of protein for the day, but only about 750-800 calories and I still feel pretty good after not eating anything since lunch about 3 hours ago!

I've always been bigger. Maybe not classified as being fat because I carry it pretty well. But, well, I'm fat. There's no fooling myself. In January, months of hard work paid off as my wife got pregnant with what will be our first child. I had been exercising a bit until that point, but I decided to ramp it up a notch and get my weight to where I can be healthy and be around a long time for my wife and kid.
I've been known to drop 40-50 pounds in 5 months or so on a few occasions, only to slowly gain that weight back over a couple years. This time is different. I know everybody says that and usually that statement doesn't come to fruit, but I've got that incentive...becoming a daddy.
Got a blog rolling- rokandroll.blogspot.com
I post on it a few times a week. Mostly fitness stuff. I try to be somewhat humorous. Check it out if you're REALLY bored.
