I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Saad Malik
I'm 23, and a Software Engineer in California, US. I've been mildly overweight most of my life (reached a whopping 215 lbs when I was in college last year).
After graduating college I decided to let go of the DELICIOUS cheese burritos and start adopting a healthier diet. New diet consisted of more fish and less red meat and less fast food. Within 8 months my weight dropped to 185 lbs with very little physical activity (once a week racquetball).
Couple months ago I checked my body fat percentage on my brother's bio-electrical impedance weight scale and saw that I had 22% BF!! I'm sure I lost a lot of muscle mass during my low protein diet.
ARRRRGGHH.. New goal: Get "cut" (Bruce Lee), I'm planning on dropping my body fat to 12%, and at the same time build muscle definition. I have average "genetics", so I won't be able to build muscle and lose weight at the same time. The next few months (3-4) I'm going to focus on lowering my body fat, and then focus on building muscle.
That said, the last four weeks I focused on building a little bit of upper body muscles (abdomen, chest, triceps) since muscles burn calories AND it was relatively easy for me to gain a little bit of muscle. A month ago I started with 15 lbs dumbbell for flat chest press, and now I can do same reps x sets with 30 lbs dumbbells.
Weekday schedule:
08:00- Saad wakes up :-) 08:30- Drink BOOST High Protein Shake (6g fat/ 33 g carbs (16g sugar) / 15 g protein) 09:00- At gym. Begin 5 minute stair master to warm up. 09:10- Weight Training: 10x3 30 lbs Dumbbell Flat Bench Press 10x3 40 lbs Dumbbell Shrug 10x3 12 lbs Side Dumbbell Lateral Raise 10x3 7 0lbs Chest Fly (Machine) 10x3 130 lbs Abdomen Sit-up (machine)
09:30- 30 Minutes Intense Running on Treadmill OR 30 minutes of elliptical (alternating days)
10:05- 35 Sit-ups on decline bench.
10:15- 100% Whey Protein powder l-Glutamine. Add whole bottle of Gatordate to my shaker bottle, shake, and enjoy. Total Nutritional Value: 40g Protein / 45g carbs (40g sugar) / 0g fat / 7g l-Glutamine
11:30- 5g L-Glutamine 12:20- Gyro sandwich. 03:00- 1 Apple 05:00- 1 Orange 08:30- Decent dinner
I usually drink equivalent of about 8 bottles of water throughout the day.
Following this schedule 4days/week, 1 day/week I play racquetball, and the other two days I don't do any exercises.
Results over the past four weeks:
Body Fat Percentage at 18% (decreased 2%) and body weight dropped to 173 lbs. These numbers fluctuate a lot (even on a daily basis), but at least I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life.
I'm looking for a motivator who preferably knows about nutrition weight training and can help me achieve my goals. Of course, friendly comments/tips on my progress are always appreciated from ANYONE :-)

Hey, everyone. My name is Magna and I'm almost 13 years old. Since the end of February this year, I've drastically change my eating habits and am entirely glad I did. Every day was a challenge at first but then it just became a part of me and the way I am. I lost about 2-3 pounds (I guess that was all I needed to lose) and realized that natural and healthy foods ARE the way to go. My family used to say I was a junk food lover and now they say I'm a health nut. It's a nice label to carry. (=
[www.whfoods.org and www.dld123.com are both great sources for healthy foods.]

A peanut butter-milk-and-banana smoothie. THE best. It tastes like drinking a peanut butter, honey, and banana sandwich (except the smoothie is more satisfying).
2 tablespoons of peanut butter, 1/2 cup of milk, and 1 banana is the recipe for it.
Thick, but can be diluted with more milk. ENjoy!

I'm a slappy geek (IT Systems Analyst at work, Gadget lover at play) and ready to do something to change my state of slappiness...time to de-slappify myself.
Unfortunately, my love for all things tech is, by it's nature, a very sedentary lifestyle which has lead me down the path of being slappy (overweight/obese, in case you were curious). After having three different doctors strongly urge me to lose weight and a blood pressure reading of 190/110...this new path became an absolute must.
I've joined the Weight Watcher ranks and found it to be a great gateway to my 'lifestyle change'. It has been a tremendous help to reducing my calories, while helping get in my daily intake of fruits, vegetables, calcium, water, omega-3's, etc...
As for fitness, I have been using my eliptical trainer at home because running outdoors was a little harsh on my knees. This has helped to ease my hand off the TiVo remote and onto the home exercise equipment. I now watch digitally recorded shows while huffing and puffing. =P
I look forward to meeting new and interesting people on here and finding new 'thinspirations' and motivators.

Breakfast:
Ghirardelli hazelnut hot chocolate --
two tablespoons (instead of the serving size of 3, less is definitely more with this stuff) in microwaved 1% milk, with a half teaspoon of instant coffee and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Minu, yumyum feta!! I'm also just now eating feta salad: cherry tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, herbs & a big chunk of feta crumbled up. Also with a couple wasa crispbreads.
Have been drinking green smoothies lately too, wild greens and cabbages/kale blended up with water, a couple bananas, dates, hemp & flax. Absolutely delicious and filling!
