Hey all. Recently I've been cooking old fashioned oats for breakfast in the morning, and adding a scoop of ON Gold Standard protein powder to it.
Now, the first time I did it, the protein powder dissolved into my oatmeal seemlessly. These last two times though, it has remained a bit grainy. Any suggestions? The only thing I can come up with is that perhaps the first bowl had cooled more before I added the protein, and maybe I should just be a bit more patient before adding it.
(I'm doing this partially to have an easy, high-protein way of flavoring my oatmeal, and also to use up this Cookies N' Cream protein powder that I don't really like the taste of.)

I found out the hard way that too-hot water curdles the whey (and I used ON Whey too). Sounds pretty dumb saying that, because it seems obvious after the fact.
Oh boy, have you tried the ON Chocolate Mint? That's even worse. I really could only stomach Chocolate and Vanilla. Even their Double Chocolate tasted weird. Plain Chocolate was the best.
I rather like my oatmeal, so I'd rather choke down a mug of warm whey first and enjoy the oatmeal by itself.

Aw, so I was on the right track. I kind of figured the heat was the problem. I'll try to be more patient tomorrow.
And while we're on the topic of the taste of protein powders, I've just bought some Nectar over the weekend, and I'm so in love. I didn't think it'd be possible to pull off a truly fruity protein powder, and I was even more skeptical about how it would taste only mixed with water, but it's bloody fantastic. If you've got $30 lying around, it's worth a try if any of the flavors are up your alley.

To get in shape, you must push yourself to the limit every time you step into the gym. Doing this is hard, tortuous, and INTENSE. Stop making excuses, get out there, and work your muscles until you're writhing in pain. You HAVE to be mindful of reality and put theory into practice rather than lackadaisically evading it.
It's really that simple.
Current stats: Weight: 190-195 lbs 6K erg time: 1:53/500 meter split Max Bench: 275 lbs Max Squat: 365 lbs Max Deadlift: 315 lbs Max Weighted Dip: 6 reps with 140 lbs Max Weighted Pull-Up: 1 rep with 90 lbs (palms away); 1 rep with 120 lbs (hammer style) Max Military Press: 165 lbs

I usually just put the whole scoop in my mouth, and then down it with milk. I then follow this ritual with a scream to the almighty Iron Gods above and beat my chest until it's bloody.

Ha! Loveit.
I personally enjoy walking around the gym with my protein-shaker in hand, with my arms abnormally far from my sides to accomodate my imaginary enormo-lats, pretend that the fatty layer on my legs is actually Ronnie Coleman quads interfereing with my ability to bend my knees, and make a metal face and anyone who dares stand between me and the preacher curls.
But only when my boyfriend's at the gym to laugh at me. Heh.
