I like to take low fat grahm crackers and put a thin layer of low fat yogurt inbetween them and put them in the freezer. My kids like it and it's one of the only semi-healthy things I can get them to eat as a treat (I'm trying to change their diets along with mine and it's not always easy) Is this something that would be an alright semi healthy treat every once in awhile or does anyone have anything similar that is healthier?

I started to gain more and more weight a few years ago and decided it to be enough now. I want to get rid of this problem and now I wonder what let me wait for so long :)

My mother used to give me and my siblings a lot of fruits. Sometimes we also made yogurt together which was quite fun and it tasted so much better because we made it ourselves.
Of course we did not make the yogurt, but we took plain yogurt, cut some fruits in little pieces (preferred strawberries) and mashed others and mixed everything up. If the fruits were not sweet enough we added some sugar.
I think kids love everything sweet and fruits are sweet
Also, in my experience, kids will like everything they made themselves. I do not know how old your kids are or if you have already tried this, but this could really make them eat healthy stuff

I used to flip over frozen blueberries when I was a kid. My mom was a genius with that one, so healthy it's rediculous!

I still LOVE frozen raspberries. You can nibble endless on a few. Because they are frozen they somehow are a substitute to ice-cream, but they are sooo sweet and refreshing and... just wonderful
I think I have to get some now...

Thank you all for the replies. My kids are 10, 7 and 2. My 10 and 2 year old LOVE fruit, but my 7 year old wont touch it (ANY of it)! He has tried pineapple, strawberries, oranges, apples, grapes, bananas, peach and pears. He just does not like fruit. I think it is really strange since fruit is sweet. He will drink fruit juice, though....odd......

frozen bananas, frozen pineapple chunks, freeze juice and put a poscilce stick in; veggies and dip; as long as your kids arent diabetic (im not a professional though) i think your graham cracker idea and other ideas mentioned are fine (better than candy); variety is key

Hi! I'm a 44 year-old slightly overweight male looking to loose 30lbs by the end of year. For me, weight loss is just one part of an overall plan for living a healthier lifestyle (as healthy a lifestyle as possible!) In addition to diet and exercise, other elements of my healthy way of life include good sleep, proper hydration, kicking the (smoking) habit, meditation, and disease management (I have rheumatoid arthritis).
I signed up at Traineo because maintaining routines has always been difficult for me. 3 years ago however, after many tries, I was finally able to maintain an exercise routine for a period of 6 months with outstanding results. I then stopped working out so I'd have more time for other things and 3 months later the RA got worse. Since then I've been unable to motivate myself back into the gym.
Well, my motivation is back, due in part to Traineo. I think having a few motivators will be a great help. Also, posting my efforts on the Internet, for the whole world to see, may help to keep me on my toes. I'm not entirely sure about that yet so I may change my profile so only Traineo members can see it.
I'm strong willed, but most of all I crave the results I achieved 3 years ago. So I'm determined, and thus far my spirits remain high. I sure am glad you stopped to read about me and great luck with your own efforts! Cheers!

I like your grahm crackers / yogurt treat, certainly not the worst treat in the world. I'll continue the trend and vote for fruit. I grew up on the stuff and love it to this day.

I always look at food generally as neutral. It is difficult to say what is good and what is bad, as it depends on what you are ultimately trying to achieve from your diet.
So long as you avoid trans-fats, cooked fats, intense sugar-rushes (except post-workouts), and a label that has a concoction of chemicals ypu can't even pronounce, you can generally justify it.
