Does anyone have any ground turkey recipes besides meatloaf and turkey burgers?

I make a mean turkey chili, but you also have to love beans.

1 onion (chopped)
1 pepper (chopped)
1 can of Bush's Chili Starter (any flavor)
2 cans black beans
2 cans red kidney beans
2 cans diced tomatoes
2 cans spicy no fat refried beans (Old El Paso works fine)
1/2 to 1 pound ground turkey
crushed garlic to taste
cayenne pepper to taste

Saute the onions and peppers in olive oil (about 2 tbsp.) for 5 minutes or so in your soup kettle (make sure they're cooked and soft)

Brown turkey in a frying pan, drain

Add all the canned ingredients to the kettle with onions and peppers
Mix, mix, mix

Add the cooked turkey to kettle
Mix, mix, mix

Add crushed garlic (I usually do 2 or 3 cloves)

Add cayenne pepper.

Let simmer for at least 30 minutes.

It makes a ton and can be frozen (and thawed) easily. Hope you like it.

Well... don't knock turkey burgers! Here's my hands down fave... Open Faced Turkey Burgers on Portobello Buns

Also, Asian Meatballs in Lettuce Cups is a good one from the new South Beach Summer Cookbook. I'll get it typed up on my website and link it later today.

You can use it in lasagna! You can also make your cheese sauce lower fat by making it up using cornstarch instead of roux and using ricotta instead of regular cheese.

I don't mean to knock turkey burgers! LOL I do like them, it's just that we just had them recently and wanted to try something different. I was thinking of browning the turkey in a little garlic and putting on top of ww bobali pizza crust and making a pizza tonight. Thanks for all the tips though, these sound yummy too!

The Open Faced Turkey Burgers sound great. I think my wife would like them too (minus the tomato).

Looking forward to the Asian Meatball recipe too.

Thanks!

Here is the Asian Meatball Recipe.

You know Jennifer, you could use this for an appetizer as well, just wrap individual meatballs in pieces of lettuce and secure with a toothpick...

I am not sure how meat-intensive you are looking for. I make stuffed peppers with ground turkey breast, which is extremely lean. I actually get my kids to eat veggies that way, and you can easily make a large batch that will last for a couple of days (or some lunches). It would probably be even better if you use regualr ground turkey, since it is richer.

Let me know if you are interested, I'll post the recipe.

If you like Thai food, I have a great green curry recipe I can give you that would be fab with ground turkey, chicken, or beef.

I really like using ground turkey in tacos and spaghetti. I really don't like ground turkey at all but using it recipes with lots of spices really helps.

Here ya go Michelle. Sorry it took so long. Hope you enjoy it!

Makes 8 servings, generous 1/2 cup filling each

ACTIVE TIME: 35 minutes

TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes

EASE OF PREPARATION: Easy

12 ounces 90%-lean ground beef
1 large onion, finely diced
2 cups finely chopped cremini mushrooms (about 4 ounces)
5 plum tomatoes, diced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup chili sauce, such as Heinz
1/4 cup ketchup
8 whole-wheat hamburger buns, toasted if desired

1. Crumble beef into a large nonstick skillet; cook over medium heat until it starts to sizzle, about 1 minute. Add onion and mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until the vegetables are soft and the moisture has evaporated, 8 to 10 minutes.
2. Add tomatoes and flour; stir to combine. Stir in water, vinegar, chili sauce and ketchup and bring to a simmer, stirring often. Reduce heat to a low simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened and the onion is very tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Serve warm on buns.
